Business Problems

To start, it's crucial to define the project scope, objectives, and target audience. Understanding the specific functionalities and features required is essential. This could include user authentication, real-time updates, push notifications, and more, depending on the company's requirements.

Project Plan

  • We deployed our L2 & L3 resources to work on this migration project. They had done such projects in the past. To start with, we made inventory of number of users, licenses, google drive size.
  • We communicated to the business users that the migration is happnening,. Hence they were aware of the migration and saved their respective work and uploaded on Google Drive if necessary.
  • Created sub domains on both (google and on microsoft) to facilitate exchange of emails on both ESP.
  • Added the DNS records for both the sub domains respecitively on Google and Microsoft.
  • Created migration batches for the users in Microsoft Exchange. This facilitated migration of emails from Google to M365.
  • We used Microsoft SharePoint Admin Center for migrating the files from Google Drive to OneDrive.
  • Waited for 2 days so that all the users would be comfortable with the content they see in OneDrive and the emails in M365.
  • After getting the confirmation from the business users, we changed the MX records and pointed it to the M365 tenant.

Benefits

  • This has helped them to migrate in a cost-effective manner to the Microsoft environment.
  • A lot of their in-house applications could work properly with the M365 environment.
  • The collaboration with their clients became so good that they could close a lot of pending things over Teams.
  • SharePoint was a good solution for them and we then helped with setting up the policies for the data accessibility across the organization.
