Business Problems

This was a problem of getting half yield of finished product after going through 14 iterations of product development.

Project Plan

  • We deployed our functional consultants to find out the fault in the product development.
  • A major issue identified in SAP PP was affecting production capacity which was generated at different steps of the production process.
  • A detailed report was created using SAP ABAP which showcased important and decision-making comprehensive details like :-
    • At each step of the production process, how much scrap is generated by quantity and value.
    • What are the defects happening at each step of the production process?
    • Who were the vendors who supplied raw materials?
  • After analyzing our reports, the production team identified the issues in a couple of processes & replaced operators and empaneled new vendors.

  • Production planners understood at which work centers/step(s) most of the scrap generates which highlighted potential process improvements.
  • Production planners understood the work centers which were creating bottle necks and how to release them.
  • The quality management team working in SAP QM area also understood additional checks they should place in system for specific materials from vendors.
